I have just got back home after spending four hours at the local Paedatric Accident and Emergency Centre. Aedan's been chesty for a few days, but today was much, much worse. He threw up his morning milk (all over me) didn't want breakfast, lunch or anything else. I took him to the baby group which is run by Health Visitors and his temperature was 38.7, which is high. Because of this he was so sleepy he couldn't stay awake.

I took him to the doctor and by some miracle he was seen within 45 minutes. The doctor told me he needed to go to hospital for a chest x-ray because he was so bad. So I called hubby who left work and off we went.

We were seen pretty quickly once we got there and they quickly examined him (he wasn't impressed) and put him on a nebuliser to help him breathe. It did help and shortly after he was given calpol (baby paracetamol) to bring his temperature down. Then he was taken for an x-ray, was examined again, had another nebuliser, was examined again and so it went on. I'm not even certain it happened in that order now I think about it. But it all helped and I started to notice the difference in him.

For a while it looked as if he'd be kept in, but a specialist looked at him and said he was ok to go home. She told me what warning signs to watch for and gave him a special inhaler. Hopefully he'll be back to normal soon.

It wasn't exactly how I'd planned to spend my day...

Yikesy! He really doesn't sound well! I could feel his chest gurgling yesterday when I was holding him, poor thingy, but otherwise seemed so perky! Does seem to be a nasty chest infection he and Neal and dealing with.

I'm glad he got seen to so quickly and that he's got treatments that seem to be helping. Chest X-ray all clear then? I'm very very glad he was able to go home the same day. Staying in overnight would have been not fun for anyone.

Poor kiddo. I hope the treatments keep helping and he's feeling better soon!

*huggles you and him lots*

*prays she hasn't caught whatever it is*

Poor you - and poor Aedan! You did the right thing to take him to the doctor so they could treat him quickly. Thank goodness he's home!

Oy, it's so scary, isn't it? When Becky was 18 weeks old she suddenly had a crooked neck and we hightailed it to the ER. After x-rays and a cat scan (we were able to sing her to sleep, fortunately, else she would have had to have been anesthetized) it was determined that she had something called Torticollis, which cause neck spasms in babies and toddlers after an URI. I will never forget how frightened I was though... *pets you*

*Sends prayers that Aedan will be well soon!*

Oh, poor Aeden. I hope he is better quickly. Did the doctor tell you to shut the bathroom door and turn on the shower and run really hot water? The steam should help.

It's scary when they get sick like that - I know what it's like having to take a child to the hospital. It I had the same thing happen with my son, and it was a worry when they started bandying the word 'pneumonia' about. Fortunately it wasn't that. It was a lung infection, but the kid didn't have to stay overnight, and he was put on antibiotics.

I hope that Aeden is now over the worst of it and is better soon!

Ack! I'm glad Aedan's getting better. That sounds like something out of a horror story, nothing's scarier when your baby's not okay. *hugs you*

Oh, poor little thing, hope he's better soon - and that, whatever it is, all his little friends from Sunday don't get it too.

Especially hope he's feeling better for his birthday!

(Happy birthday, Aedan, and a big hug from me).

Wow, Tux - I'm glad to hear he's on the mend. Sounds very much like our experience with our second daughter - in the hospital for a day with breathing problems and came to find out that she had a form of asthma. Fortunately, she's largely grown out of it now - the only remaining problem is that she's terribly allergic to cats.

Hope that it's the same for you - not chronic, but acute - in any case, I'm glad to hear he's okay. And - Happy Birthday!
