tuxedo_elf: (Marching Elves)
OK, so I'm 4 days overdue and slowly going insane. I know it's quite normal, especially for first pregnancies, but I'm SO on edge! I dare not go anywhere in case I go into labour! On the other hand, if I *don't* soon have baby, I'm going to find myself being induced. DO NOT WANT! I've heard enough horror stories about it to know it is NOT the best way to give birth.

I'm nervous too - change scares me a bit and you don't get changes much bigger than this! I just hope I cope well enough to be a decent parent. Sure, I have plans - but can you ever really plan the unknown?

I still miss writing, but it's still not happening. Probably because I have too much on my mind. At this rate my Yule fic will be done for *next* Christmas... I can't see me having much time after baby arrives!

Have finally read some of the secret santa fics... there were some excellent ones, I must say! Will leave some reviews if I get the chance.

Someone on a certain group (no one on my flist) has got my back up - again. I really should just avoid topics where she comments because I should know by now that I *will* be 'treated' to an opinion, even if I was commenting to someone else. *Mutter, mumble, growl*

My, aren't I just a bundle of fun today? /Sarcasam.

Aww. *mushy* I was wondering about ya yesterday. Things happen in their own time.

You cannot let the groups get to you. They will annoy.

ok, here's a method that we were taught in massage school for inducing and increasing labor naturally. Between your pointer finger and thumb, rub that area, right in the spot before the joint. Got me? The triangle area before you meet bone, ok? We're told to avoid that area in giving massages to pregnant women since it causes uteran contractions. Also, on your inside heel massage.

Oh cool, I'll get hubby to do that for me! (He's absolutely desperate to 'help' lol) How long do you massage for?

Thankies!

as long as you want. I'm not sure on specifics for it cuz I've never had to do it. :P

Don't they give you about two weeks until they induce?
They only did this to me when I was 18 days over due

Date: 2008-01-11 03:47 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] liz666.livejournal.com
The hospital I was with wanted to induce after only a week despite that I had heard about the two week rule! Depends on how busy they are...

Date: 2008-01-12 04:08 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com
I think my hospital is two weeks, I have an appointment on Monday if he hasn't shown up though - at that point it'll certainly be discussed. :(

May I ask what bad stuff you heard about it?

Date: 2008-01-17 03:10 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com
More painful and more prone to complications... still, guess I'm going to find out anyway!

I've been wondering whether we'd see an announcement from you or not....
Hopefully sooner rather than later then to avoid having to be induced...

*hugs*

Myf was about a week past the due date and I refused to be induced when she was a week 'late' (It's less dangerous for the baby after a fortnight overdue, then baby is actually overdue) It drove me nuts but I was also axious about the labour and how I would cope with it. Ultimately sweetheart the hospital can't do anything without yours or your hubby's consent.

I've known you for a very long time-honestly honey you are going to make an amazing mother and your son is so lucky.

Everything will be fine

love and hugs

I'm at 12 days over... two days earlier than I'd have picked, but I doubt it'll make much difference! I've decided to go ahead with it, mostly due to some issues over the past few days which are making me nervous.

Aww thank you! I hope you're right!

*Hugs*

Going overdue is scary-it's natural to worry and women often feel guilty despite that it's out of their control!
Remember that your body will protect your son no matter what-even at your expense-and the hospital will do everything they can to make sure you and your baby are healthy and happy.

Artemis watch over you.
(And of course I'm right! You're fab and will be more fabulous still as a mum)

I know exactly how you feel. My oldes ( now 14) was 2 weeks late. 17 days to be exact. He was due on the 5th of march and was not born untill the 22nd. They were going to induce me later that morning but thankfully I went into labor at 4am. my youngest had to be induced, it wasn't as bad as I had been told.

sorry to hear that someone at a group is stressing you out. I have one like that in one of my groups. no matter what anyone else says or does she always gives her opinion and hers always has to be right. I walked out of another group I was in with her because of it.
Kids need people who love them, enough to eat and a roof over their head.

Don't worry too much about plans - since when has a plan that didn't work out been a total disaster?

(We believe in you even if you doubt yourself sometimes)

Big hugs
*agrees totally*

You'll be fantastic, sweetie!

That you're concerned about it shows that you will be a wonderful parent. Children need love. By being worried that you'll do a good job shows that you love the child already.

The due dates are guesses at best, so don't worry. What always seemed to work for my friends was to buy expensive concert tickets, hoping that the baby will wait. Of course, that day the baby was born and someone else got the tickets! :D

Sweetie, I've known you several years and I think you're going to be a wonderful mum. No-one has all the answers, but you have common sense, warmth and lots of love and that's all you need.

Don't let them induce unless your health is compromised or they can show a probable danger to Baby. Otherwise you grit your teeth and let it happen in nature's good time. It's your body, your son, and you're in charge.

*loves*

Just hang in there. I have six children and two births were induced. It was not that bad at all. Your little one will came when its time.:)

You know, you can read and prepare until you're blue in the face, but the fact is, a lot of it really IS instinct. You'll be nursing and diapering like a pro, and far sooner than you'll imagine. And pretty soon, you're going to be wondering what the heck you worried for!

You'll be fine. Trust me. I haven't managed to ruin my baby with my inexperience, and he's now ten years old. And the greatest kid in the world, if I do say so myself. *grin*

Can't wait to read the birth announcement!

*hugs* My sister was two weeks overdue and her son came out perfectly healthy and fine. You could try eating lots of super-spicy/hot food. I know several people who put themselves into labor with that. I didn't try it because I don't like that kind of food.
Hang in there! You're in our thoughts and we're all pulling for you. (Maybe that should be pushing :P )

Oh, Hon, I sympathize with you. You will be an excellent parent because your worry shows that is important that you be. Hang in there, babies come when they are ready.

::Hugs poor Tux.:: It's be okay, hon. Trust the wee grey talking rat. As for the someone who keeps giving you her unwanted opinion, try telling her that if she is really THAT desperate for your full attention then there are better ways to get it.

Poor Tux! *cuddles you gently* I can only imagine how on edge you are with the wait, but I'm sure "little Tux" will be arriving on the scene, all safe and sound, any time now and will keep up the prayers and good thoughts for that. :)

It's probably good for you to be reading the SS fics right now. A great way to fill in the waiting time.
It's high time I joined some of your groups too.

Thinking of you and hoping you have good news soon.:-)

Hey... you do know that "due dates" are only estimates and Doctors acting like they know the future?

Anyways. Mom had 7 kids, and most of us were "late" and she never needed to be induced, even with the last one who was almost three weeks late. So don't sweat it, relax, relax, relax. Your body knows what to do!! As the 2nd oldest I got to see mom pregnant a lot, the 7th was even born at home.

You're in my prayers for a safe, short labor and a healthy child. God Bless.

Aww good luck honey! I'm thinking of you! Don't worry too much about your wee one being late - I was five days late (and I'm still late for everything I do!) and I'm fine!

(actually everyone who's ever been born late in my family is late for everything throughout life, and everyone who was born earlier than their due date is always on time for stuff - it's weird! You'll have to rush your kid for everything if its true for them too!) :p

*massive gentle hug* I'll be thinking of you!
