First update of 2008 - Hey, that rhymes! :P

So, Christmas was pretty good. BiL never came back, but that's his loss. The rest of us had a great time! I love seeing family at Christmas! We ended up not opening any gifts until late afternoon, there was just too much else to do! Everything did stop for 'Dr Who' though. :P Even geuzegirly made sure to get here before it started, so she couyld get some sense out of mum and I! *Grin*

New Year... well, I've never liked it much, this year was no exception. :/ Mum came with my sister and John, sister's BF. Sister critisised everything from the moment she walked through the door, as usual. Yes, my house is small. But I *like* it, so screw her snarkiness. John, who I've always found to be somewhat pretentious, was ironically the least annoying. Not sure why he was easier to get along with, but since it's looking like he'll be part of the family one day, this is a good thing!

It's only five days until my due date now! I can't wait until he's here, though I'm terrified too. I feel so clueless! Will be nice to be not pregnant again though, I just ache all the time now and really struggle to sit or lie comfortably. Not that I'm expecting a good nights sleep any time soon. ;)

Am still hoping to post a fic soon... writing is just *such* hard work at the moment. I miss it, but forcing it doesn't help! Maybe once life is a bit more settled it'll be easier. As long as the muses come back eventually I'll be ok!

And last but in absolutely NO way least - thank you to the following for the wonderful baby gifts! I really hope I haven't forgotten anyone, there has been so much sent it's rather overwhelming and very touching!

It sounds awful, but I sleep better when hubby has gone, because I can sprawl at odd angles! That's the only thing that seems to work for me!

ohh believe me I know what you men. I made mine sleep on the couch a few times so I could have the whole bed to myself. it did not always work though and it did not help that my daughter was 2 weeks past my due date.

On the bright side, after you have the baby your body (at least for me) goes right back to feeling normal pre-preg (outside some discomfort if you tear/episiotomy) I'm only 12 hours past when I delivered and its already hard for me to remember what it was like to be pregnant. My body just feels very natural to me like before pregnancy its weird! Much more comfortable!

I feel/felt clueless too but your natural instincts really do kick in!

I didn't get chance to reply, but what you said in that post was spot-on. He does like everyone running around after him and seems to go out of his way to ensure it happens. (Example: When we got back from shopping it was dark, but he hadn't even thought to turn a light on!)

You know, I don't recall the actual pain of labour - we tend to forget that really fast - but those last few days are branded on my memory. I have never been so miserable in my entire life. Two days before M was born, I screamed at my husband about something really stupid and burst into tears and my mother-in-law actually sat and rocked me like a baby and told her precious son to go find someone else to bother, lol.
