Drabble thing
Feb. 16th, 2006 10:41 amFor those who may not have seen it on
kenazfiction's birthday post, this is the drabble I wrote her. Any excuse to write Glorfindel/Ecthelion!
On This Night
Watching every step, Ecthelion moved quietly around the room. It was not quite midnight, but Glorfindel, newly returned from patrol, was already asleep.
That suited Ecthelion perfectly, and he smiled to himself as he went about his business, careful not to disturb his lover.
Not until midnight was almost upon them did he return to the bed, sitting down gently and leaning over to kiss the slumbering Glorfindel.
“Mmm… ‘Thel?” Glorfindel blinked sleepily as he awoke, staring up at his smiling partner.
“Shhh… come with me.” Ecthelion kept his voice soft as he held out his hand, pulling Glorfindel up when he took it. “I have something to show you.”
Confused, but knowing Ecthelion would not wake him without good reason, Glorfindel rose and slipped on a light robe. No sooner was it tied than his hand was taken by his lover and he was led towards the balcony. Ecthelion pushed the light curtain aside and revealed his surprise.
A soft gasp left Glorfindel’s lips as he took in the carefully prepared treat. The wrought-iron table was set for two and plates of Glorfindel’s favourite delicacies covered the surface. In the centre, pride of place, was a large apple pie, the top sprinkled liberally with spices and sugar. Everything was illuminated by candles placed liberally around the table and large free-standing ones that sat close to the railings. Above them, the starts shone brightly.
“It is… It is just like…” Glorfindel struggled to find the words.
“Like the night I proposed?” Ecthelion finished for him.
Mutely, Glorfindel nodded and Ecthelion smiled, pulling his mate into his arms.
“Happy Anniversary, Beloved.”
