I love that cat, but...

I love my cat, really I do. But he gave me a hell of a scare last night. He slipped out when I wasn't looking, and didn't come back for four hours. By which point, I was frantic.

And tired.

It was 2am when he snuck out, so by the time he came back it was 6am. I'd tried to go to bed but I was far too worried to sleep. I'm going to be utterly useless today.

On the bright side, once he was back and I was breathing again, I found I was somewhat reassured. To know he can go wandering for so long and still find his way back, somewhat less than 48 hours from his arrival, is comforting.

I have to start posting this in installments.

~Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of - THE SMUDGE SAGA!!!~

In case you plan on interviewing those who have met Smudge -- all I can say is that that cat knew exactly that I was allergic to him and crawled on my lap on purpose! :D

I bet ol' Smudge was just checking out the new neighbourhood. *huggles*

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL yes, that's Smudge - cute but wicked. :P

There was a hell of a catfight around 3am... I think his territory is secure. Hee.

Aww!! I have to say, the "runaway" episode is one I am familiar with. It does make one insane!! Hopefully he hasnt gotten a taste for it now. Be careful when you open the door again!

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well he's an outdoor cat anyway, so I'm not worried about him going out... it was just too soon. You're supposed to keep them in for 3-4 days at least before letting them wander in a new place.

I know from past experience (when Arwen did her Great Escape for two days) how utterly terrifying and paralysing it can be.
I am so glad he found his way home. At least you won't have the same worries if he does another disappearing act.
*hugs you both*

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It's true... he can go out now and I'll relax a bit more. But I wish it hadn't happened so soon.

*Hugs*

That darned cat. Remind me to tell you about the time my gato climbed out on the roof! Hoo hoo hoo.

Nice piccie! Heh.

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG really? You so have to tell me that story!

[identity profile] meyerlin.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the same for all of us. And how they ever find their way around a new neighbourhood I don't know - but they do!

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
They do, thank heavens!

This may sound nuts... but do I know you? You have SFBall on your interests list and I'm almost always at the ball...

[identity profile] meyerlin.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Our paths have definitely crossed! Hubby and I have been to all the Balls (he used to help put it together!) but didn't stay for the meal this year. We won't decide if we're going next year until the guest-list is up though - fingers crossed for some favourites! Tell you what, I've 'friended' you so you can see a pic in my 'friends only' gallery. You'll see which one is me - and if you do recognise me from the Ball, I hope I wasn't behaving too badly when you saw me!

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't find it, can you give me a direct link please? All I get is a pic of Port meirion!

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Never mind, I found it! ^_^ cool pic!

Don't recognise you though, so I think we have probably just passed without knowing. LOL.

Maybe next feb if they actually *get* any guests. I'm not impressed that there's still nothing up.

Anyway, this is me. *Points to icon* :)

Small world, huh?

[identity profile] meyerlin.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, glad you found it! And I don't recall seeing you, but we'll know who to look out for another time! :)

[identity profile] mirien.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh poor you! Agonising isn't it, when they do that? Arwen and Sorcha are going out for the first time in a couple of weeks when i get Arwen's shots/booster thingy done *cringe* I'm dreading it.

[identity profile] meyerlin.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't have to send them out, you know! My 2 youngest, who we acquired at 8 weeks, were well over a year old when they first went out. One morning, it was just the right day! It was early Autumn, and they were asking to go out. So we started letting them out for an hour or 2 in the morning (calling frequently to keep them orientated) leaving a window or door open for them. Then it got too cold to do that - so we shut them outside - and it's amazing how quickly they learned to use the flap!

[identity profile] nienna-weeper.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Smudge, you naughty boy! Don't go scaring your mumma like that!

*cuddles tux*

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
*Huggles*

I think he's more settled now!

Smudge....the series!

[identity profile] djs-newhaven.livejournal.com 2006-07-28 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay I'll admit I'm looking forward to seeing what'll happen next but tell Smudge if he plans on doing anything crazy to please use a stunt double!! lol

Thanks for the laugh Tux.....oh and you too Smudge! (((Hugs)))

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL he is an ongoing story! :P

I'll pass that info on... doubt he'll listen though! ;)

*Grin*

*Hugs*

It's easy to laugh about it after they're back safe and sound, lol. LOVE your pic.

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it really is! :P

And thanks... the things I do when sleep deprived. lol.

[identity profile] lonely-lycanth.livejournal.com 2006-07-29 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I like how he's sleeping in that pic.

[identity profile] tuxedo-elf.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, he's a cutie. :)

[identity profile] geuzegirly.livejournal.com 2006-08-01 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, the little tinker.....still, you did know that tomcats have to go out, pee on all their boundaries, fight anything that moves etc etc. Bet it's been a real strain him living with Bob and Mary's cat and trying to be polite (or not!).

Has Jupiter been sprung yet?
