My Son :D

As many of you now know, my son, Aedan Theodric, was born on January 20th at 00.37am, weighing 8 pounds and 14 ounces. :)

I am SO thrilled to have him here - he's hard work, but I love him so much, so it's all worth it! I am one very proud Mummy!

The labour was very long though... a pretty staggering 52 hours in total. The 'nudge' (a hormone gel) that I'd hoped would work did indeed start contractions, but nothing else happened... so after two doses of that and a lot of pain, they finally put the drip in and forced me into 'active' labour. It wasn't an easy delivery... I had to have an episiotomy because he was so big, but it's true what they say - once you have your baby in your arms you forget all about the pain! (For a bit anyway - I STILL feel like I ran a marathon without training! :P)

Thank you all for the LJ posts, emails, v-gifts and e-cards, they are all very much appreciated! I promise I'll reply to them all when I can, but now I really need to sleep before he wakes up for another feed. I'll leave you with some picspam... I think he's the cutest baby ever, but I may be biased! ;)

Aww, he looks so tiny in that big cot! Thank you for sharing him with us, love. You're an incredibly brave girl, and you did a wonderful job. I know the stitches are hell - been there, lol - but he's worth it, I know. Beautiful baby boy - and his mum looks pretty good all things considered, too, lol.

Congrats, Tux! He is a beautiful baby boy and well worth the effort I'm sure. I love the name you chose as well.

I never hear good things about those induced labors. Babies should come when they're ready, not on some doctor's schedule unless there is a medical issue.

Anyway, sending plenty of huggles your way. Rest well and enjoy the baby. These early days go so fast! Enjoy them.
