Thranduil looked back into the room, regret on his face. "I wish we did not have to leave. It is so soon…"
Oropher placed a comforting hand on his son's shoulder. "I know, my son." He watched sadly as Thranduil pulled away and went back into the room, looking once more at what he was leaving behind.
"You will return," Oropher said. "No matter what else may happen, you will return."
Nodding slowly, Thranduil picked up his bow and left the room. "I love you," he whispered, closing the door and leaving his wife and newborn son to their slumber.
