Sorting out the kitchen seemed like a good idea this morning. Unfortunately, it didn't end that way. Somehow I slipped getting off the step-ladder and went flying face-first into a box full of glasses. Apparently people nearby heard me scream. I don't remember that.
I was actually very lucky. I could have cut myself to pieces. As it was I cut an inch-long gash in my face, between my lips and chin, chipped a tooth and brused my face and leg. The gash was pretty nasty. I was bleeding all over the place. There was no one here, I don't drive and I don't know the neighbours yet so I did the only thing I could do - called an ambulance. At that point one of the neighbours came by and waited with me. Not the best way to meet them... *Sigh* The ambulance came pretty quickly and carted me off to the local hospital.
There wasn't much of a wait and I was soon treated - they opted for 'skin glue' instead of stitches which I was pleased about. Less chance of an ugly scar.
While I was waiting I'd called
geuzegirly and she came and picked me up, took me home and kept me company until hubby got back. *Hugs her* It was a relief to know she was nearby.
I think I'm ok... sore and shaky... definitely in shock... but a good night's sleep will probably help. What a day.
