Late birthday drabble
Feb. 28th, 2006 04:35 pmA belated birthday drabble for
lotrfan_angel17 I hope you like it!
A Precious Gift
The morning sun filtered through the carved windows, causing dappled light to fall on the couple in bed. Elrond smiled as he woke and looked down upon the sleeping form of his wife. Bending over, he bestowed a gentle kiss to her lips.
“Happy begetting day, love,” he whispered as she rolled towards him, blinking sleepily. “I have a gift for you.”
“And what would that be?” she asked, sitting up in bed and looking curiously at her husband.
From a small drawer near the bed, Elrond produced a small box wrapped in red velvet. Looking a little nervous, he pressed it into Celebrían’s hand. “I hope you like it,” he said with a small smile.
She took the parcel and opened it, the velvet fluttering down to the bedcovers as she pulled off the wooden lid of the box. Inside sat a necklace in the shape of the mallorn leaves of her homeland. It was carved of mithril, inlaid with diamonds and was set upon a delicate silver chain.
“It is beautiful,” she gasped, taking it from the box and holding it up, letting the morning light reflect from it. “Thank you, love.” Leaning forward, she kissed Elrond before sitting back with a wicked look in her eyes. “However, it is not what I want.”
“It isn’t?” At the look she gave him, Elrond felt hopeful and edged closer to her. “Then want do you want?"
At that moment the room filled with the cries of the three-month-old twins as they awoke and demanded attention. Celebrían grinned and kissed Elrond on the nose before snuggling back down under the covers.
“Have fun, love,” she chuckled as Elrond heaved a resigned sigh and went to see to his children.
