Semi-Drabble: Dawn of Truth
Dec. 17th, 2005 01:41 amI wrote this almost until the last paragraph without knowing *who* it was! Many thanks to Eni for telling me that actually, it was Curufin!
Dawn of Truth
Too late I finally see the truth. After all the blood we have shed, the loses we have endured and the sacrifices we have made, I finally understand. You hold no love for us. I do not doubt that you did once, but it faded long ago, replaced by the Silmarils.
I should have realised when you died, when your last words were not of us, but of the Silmarils. Yet I was blinded by my love for you and the oath we had already sworn. So I followed your demands, hunted, killed and maimed.
Yet not until I was alone did the truth finally come to light. Not until there was no hope of redemption and all was lost. Not until the blade buried itself deep in my chest and Mandos' voice whispered in my ear.
They said I was your favourite son, most like you of all my brothers. Did you feel regret upon your death? Did you know you had chosen the wrong path? Somehow, Father, I do not think we were alike as all that.
