It has been one of *those* days.
It's the first Saturday of the new term. That means it was pretty busy with new students, extra staff and the like. Not to mention we also had an 'open house' day on our old 17th century building, so lots of public wandering in and out.
I was getting a bit weary after repeating the same directions to visitors dozens of times, but at least the time went quickly. At noon the extra staff went home and I thought things would get a bit bit quieter. Until someone said the one phrase you *really* don't want to hear at work:
"Can someone call an ambulance?"
Some poor woman had collapsed in the toilets after (we think) her stitches from a recent operation had burst. So we had to get an ambulance, get the poor woman off to hospital, seal up the toilets and - do the paperwork!
Yes, I do realise that *her* day was *far* worse than mine... but ye gods, those forms! I think whoever designed them forgot that people who are hurt are hardly going to fill in silly details on forms!
Give me strength.
EDIT: I should also point out that I am site manager on Saturdays and am responsable for everyone!
