My councilofelrond.net email account has been wiped. Not sure why... maybe I didn't log in often enough. At any rate, everything is gone. Thankfully there were only a handful of personal mails, most of my reviews are still up on the groups. The one thing I did lose though, was a scan of the RĂºmil decipher card I'd been sent. Rhonda, was it you who sent me that? If you or anyone else has a pic of it would they mind forwarding it to me? It was soooo pretty!

Neglected elves - a discussion
Jul. 27th, 2005 08:27 pmI admit, until I met
luin77 I didn't think about Oropher much. He was just Thranduil's father. But friends and role-play tend to make things creep into your head and I have to say, I've become rather a fan!
Unfortunately, there don't seem to be a great deal of others who are. Oropher rarely appears in fics and when he does, it's usually as the bad guy. The poor Elf has a worse reputation for being evil than his son!
What I want to know is why. OK, so he wasn't a fan of the Noldor. After the kinslayings, can he really be blamed? He charged before Gil-galad's signal yes, but we don't know why. There could have been any number of reasons. Tolkien called him wise. So why does this Elf get such bad press?
Opinions please!
