This seems to be popular right now, so why not...

I don't write much original poetry, so I'll post one of my fan-poems instead.

*************

Blaze of Glory

Blazing gold stood straight and tall,
He faced the burning demon’s hell,
Swords raised as destinies entwine,
On cliff above the mortal world.

Flame and steel with movement blur,
Cool light in combat with dark fire,
Protector offers one last smile,
Then lures the beast into the grip of hell.

Though flame has brought the flower's fall,
His sacrifice was not in vain,
A thousand hearts beat for one lost,
For life a death is duly paid.

Upon his grave gold flowers laid,
Bright as the life extinguished once,
Laments unto the Valar sweetly sung,
For the hero's soul forever gone.
